MURAL acquires LUMA Institute 🤝✨
As if our post and announcement on Collaborative Intelligence earlier today wasn’t exciting enough, we’ve got more big news!
Today we announced our acquisition of LUMA Institute, further strengthening our position as a leader in collaboration, as we introduce collaborative intelligence, a new systematic approach that connects teams to unlock their genius, taking insights and ideas from possibility to reality.
You likely already know LUMA. But if you don’t, LUMA has been equipping people to be collaborative problem solvers through its learning experiences, digital resources, certification programs, and more. They are the creators of the LUMA System of Innovation, a modular and adaptive collection of design methods that creates a common language for collaboration.
LUMA is joining forces with MURAL to support the launch of the MURAL Collaboration Design Institute™ in late 2022, where the discipline of collaboration design will be taught and learned through self-service curriculum, cohort-based learning, certifications, and communities. We’re really excited about our future together—this is the beginning of something great.
We’re passing the mic to a few of our friends from the team to introduce themselves and say hello!

As a long-time "LUMAnary" and avid MURAL user, I'm so excited about this news! At LUMA, we love learning new things. In fact, a luminary is "someone who illustrates any subject or enlightens humankind." That's lofty language but it aligns with our mission to teach everyone about the power of human-centered design, collaboration, and innovation. And the double meaning of the word "illustrate" is quite fitting, because it means "to clarify" and "to draw." We like to draw, sketch, and work visually to shine light on things and find better ways to collaborate with one another.
I have a good feeling that MURAL and LUMA will be great collaborators. LUMA's tagline is Make Things Better. Well, let's make things better together!

Hi new friends! I’m Terri Burch, a Senior Program Director with LUMA Institute.
I am super-excited about LUMA joining MURAL! This union seems like destiny in more ways than one. To name two: 1) Some LUMA practitioners have already thought that we were the same company and 2) LUMA + MURAL have the exact same letters in the spelling of the company names except for one - the R. 😀 Well, the stars have aligned in the LUMAverse (as we say at LUMA) and we are now one! 🌟
I’m most looking forward to continuing to offer world-class service and solutions to our clients as a LUMAnary, now with the additional collaborative design superpowers of a MURALista! We are the Future of Work and the Future of Work is Now! 🙌

Hi, I am Jesse! I've been an instructor at the LUMA Institute for 2 years now.
As I teach people the power of using the LUMA system to develop solutions in the service of people, I love the moment where I can see they really get it. Pairing LUMA with MURAL makes this moment so much more accessible to so many. Participants often share how surprisingly easy and effective the collaboration was, even those who had never used a human-centered design method, or a digital whiteboard before the class started.
I am looking forward to how we, as one company, will empower so many people, teams, and companies to collaborate effectively, deliberately, and intelligently. Woot Woot!! ✨🎉✨

Hello, everybody! I’m Deisiane Bresolin, a Senior Program Director at LUMA Institute.
I joined LUMA more than 2 years ago as a Human-Centered Design Instructor because I felt inspired by the mission to increase design literacy and help more people become confident and creative problem solvers. I wanted to be part of the movement to prepare people for the future of work.
I’m thrilled to join forces with MURAL and help bring the discipline of collaboration design to even more humans in the world.

When I started at MURAL in 2020 I had no idea what design thinking was and my manager sent me the LUMA book. Fast forward and when @ryannee first started here, I got to be his MURAL buddy. Needless to say I got some insider tips and fell in love with Luma even more!
So happy to have you all here and see some names that I'll be working with soon on shared accounts. Exciting stuff!!!
