That's my go to warmup too @MeghanB ! I also love the "what cat are you today" check in which you can find in the ultimate standup template.

Although the "Where in the world are you" icebreaker can be a great way to get to know where your peers are located, I feel as though more and more people are moving to in person events/activities and are located in the same place. The "Design your own sweater" icebreaker is very unique! I immediately loved it when I saw it and thought it would be a great way to see the different types of thinking within the group and the types of creativity that everyone has. It provides more insight than the location of a person, which can also be verbally shared when they present their sweater!

While everybody seems to love world map, I must confess that I've grown a bit weary of this one. Maybe I've just seen / done it to often. π€·π½ββοΈ On the pro side it's a very simple one and everybody can contribute to it. Still: Any ideas on spicing this up just a tiny bit?
My fav is "what cat are you today?" (like @Emilia): A lighhearted way to talk about your mood / feelings - and again_ everybody loves cats on the internet, don't they? πΉ

Totally agree @elkmind the world map is fun a few times, I usually do it with people who are new to MURAL. A way to spice it up is to ask where you would like to travel or live, add a photo of your favourite international dish on the map, pictures of your dream vacation etc. Adding pictures to the map is a fun way to make new variations of it!

Great question @elkmind! You gave me a lot of great ideas for how to do different versions of that activity.

I love these warm-ups to break the ice and make everyone feel included. My personal favorite is the book shelf because it not only gives you great new book recommendations, but also connects you with others who have similar interests!

The bookshelf is one of my favourites too! It doesn't just help your team get to know each other better, you also learn a lot at the same time. A great way to add more value is by asking each participant to add a sticky note next to the book with the key learnings they take away from it.
