Snapping / Aligning is always off by a few pixels

I dont understand what I am doing wrong; The alignment of shapes as you place them and move them around seems to constantly always be off by a few pixels or so resulting in everything being slightly wonky. I have a huge amont of trouble just trying to make a sequence of shapes with connectors that actually lie in a straight line, and align vertically with items above and below them.

Everyhting is slightly to high, or left or right a bit. Al lthe connecting lines appear slightly sloped. As the diagram progresses across the page everything wanders slowly up or down etc..

Is there any way to adjust how agressive snapping is, or how many different guidelines it attempts to snap to? turning it off altogether and dagging using 'CTRL' is just as much as a pain, so having alignment auto snap properly to the center of nearby objects etc.. would be useful

  • I very much agree! This is triggering my tidiness issues and I actually feel like I lose a lot of time fixing boxes that don't snap properly.

I know there's an "organize into an area" and then grid. But that's super stiff. I want to set the boxes up as I want but I want to them to snap pixel perfect if I see the "alignment dotted line".

Hi @warren and @Guillaume Our team is currently investigating this bug and we'd really appreciate it if you can share some more information that will help us fix the issue sooner. I've sent you both a message so we can investigate further into this.

Thanks again for your feedback. 🙂

  • Hi Lez,

I’ve been actively trying to reproduce it, but as expected when trying to reproduce an issue, I could not.

I’ll do some more work in Mural today. I’ll keep an eye out.

    Cheers

    Guillaume

Hi @Guillaume + @warren - let us know if this is still happening to you- I hope all has panned out! -M

  • Hi @Lez_at_Mural

This is easy to reproduce. Try drawing a few rectangles, one underneath the other. Then try to make them exactly the same width and have the left and right sides perfectly aligned.

Even with snapping off, it's really difficult to drag the sides to adjust width of the rectangles.

    Cheers

    Jon

  • Yeah. This is incredibly frustrating. When you place a shape over another it will mis-align by a few pixels consistently. It's practically impossible to build a swimlane that doesn't look terrible.

The pre-created templates are themselves fine, but as soon as you need to extend them, it's just ugly and awful.

  • Hi @warren @Guillaume @shinobinomono @Pat sorry for the delay. We totally understand the frustrations in trying to organize your murals. Our Development team is working on a fix for this bug and will need more time as this has been happening in different ways. We really appreciate your patience on this.

    Hello @warren @Guillaume @shinobinomono @Pat ,

Thank you very much for reporting this and also for your patience.

We have recently made several improvements to our overall alignment and shape alignment. I can't recreate the this issue anymore - but it is possible I am not doing it the same way you are. Can you please check if this is still happening? If yes, do you mind writing detailed steps or recording a video of the issue happening ? We would like to investigate further.

    Hi,

apologies for not noticing the activity here until now!

It's appreciated that you have taken time to improve the problem; I will endeavour to work with some of the murals I have / test out the snapping and let you know how it goes.
