💡Feature Idea: How do you auto size text in shapes?

How do I set Mural to auto-size text inside shapes?

Seems to work for post it notes but not for other object types such as shapes.

What I want to do:

When I use shapes as a dimension of meaning they appear to inherit the text formatting of their parent object. I am using the the auto-create new shape feature as highlighted in the attached image. It would be great to have an optional behavior at an inherited behaviour level to auto-size text. I could then set this behaviour for my root object and have it auto-size text and then have this inherited by the "child shapes". If possible it would be awesome to also be able to override this in a child shape and have the non-auto size behaviour inherited for any shape created form there. Not sure this is very clear but it is hard to describe in text.

What kinds of users it may help:

Users who use the auto-create shape feature, particularly those who mind map and use shape as a dimension of meaning as currently the only workaround is to mind map with PostIt notes which means shape cannot be used to show associative meaning.

Hi @TheSleepingBarber! Thank you for your questions, btw! 😎

The auto-resize text behavior is not supported for shapes at the moment. If you'd like, I can push this over to the Feature Request side?

  • Yes please. Currently I am working around this by only creating mind maps using post it notes otherwise I spend a lot of time reformatting text to fit shapes. This means that I lose a dimension of meaning in my mind maps as I can no longer show correlation using shape, only colour and connectivity.
