Table: keep notes inside cells
Hi there,
if I put content inside a table, like sticky notes, it should remain inside the cells if I change a cell size or add a row above or below. Currently if I add a row, the row is added but all the content stays in place (basically hovering over the changed table grid), which basically destroys the use of a "table" because the content is all over the place.
I think on release it was like that (also if I added a note inside the cell, and the cell was to small it automatically got larger to hold the additional note – that also does not happen any more).
Is there a setting that I switched accidentally or is this a bug or is the feature changed?
Cheers,
Torsten

Hi there @BergerBerlin !
Thanks for your post and thank you for your patience while we investigated this behavior further.
We launched our new UI last week and after several tests, the behavior is not reproducing on our end.
I have sent you an email to further troubleshoot with you so you can share with us at Support @MURAL screenshots or a short video of what you are experiencing so we can understand better the issue.
Feel free to let me know if you have not received the email, I will be happy to get in touch with via a different method.
Cheers,
Ben

Hi @blopez,
thanks a lot for your email, I found it now in my SPAM folder :-) I need to check if I can provide a video (it is still "not working"), today is my last working day this year, so it might take until January until I answer you.
Cheers,
Torsten

@BergerBerlin any chance you imported those sticky notes instead of creating them inside a Table? Or is there an area behind the Table? What seems to be happening is that the stickies didn't get added to the Table and instead remained in the bottom layer.

I can confirm that content added to cells do not stay bound within the cell once the table is changed. I uncovered this due to a lack of basic support for hyperlink text, such as in a cell. As a work around I placed an image in a cell and hyperlinked the image. For example, a row of data for a contact with a column of links to LinkedIn profiles. A LinkedIn icon was used in a cell, hyperlinked to the profile on LI. If you don't change the table, then the image stays locked/relative to the cell. BUT if you add a row or change row height, it breaks the objects binding to the cell.

Hi @nadiar, @blopez & @Meghan,
sorry for the delay. The table feature is still a bit "wobbly" here and there but I can not really tell what it is. The incident I described above happend for a table that was placed on an area (which I need to do to structure my murals). That seems to break the feature (as I read in the comments above). That is kind of bad, as areas are the main tool to support people to navigate. I am aware that I can add a table directly to the outline, but then all additional text on the side that explains stuff is not included.
The fact that content from the table is ignored when changing e.g. rows etc. also happens outside of areas. Also I had the case where the notes were part of a cell (moved with the whole table), but in a later session suddenly they weren't.
I tried to make a video while replicating and everything worked fine. I am not allowed to share my original work files and notes.
So for now: I am happy that there is the table feature. We will see what improves with time.
Cheers,
Torsten
