Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! May 2nd - 8th, 2021!

It's that time of year again where we celebrate those who spend countless hours with students educating and mentoring them on various topics and passions!

During the week of May 2nd - 8th, take time to thank a teacher!

To all our educators out there, we want to thank you for all that you do! ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ“š๏ธ

Which teacher was an inspiration to you? How did they make a difference?

For me it was my high school Latin teacher. She always knew that I wasn't a strong Latin student, but she always took to time to sit with me and answer all my daily questions. I will never forget her kindness and passion.

Great prompt, @AmyS. For me, it was my high school English teacher, "Fie". I was lucky enough to have him for my Junior year - and this followed a very difficult Sophomore year of English where I barely held it together. Not only did he make class super fun as we'd exploring such classics as Wuthering Heights, but he also provided me essential coaching to unlock a love of writing that has followed me ever since. I still cannot believe it has been 20+ years since his unexpected passing. I miss him terribly.

    Love you, Fie!

Love this, thank you @AmyS For me, it was also my High School Latin teacher, who made something that seemed to have no connection to the modern world incredibly relevant and fun. The way he framed learning in general, and pushed curiosity and discovery, has stuck with me. Also, his name was Augustus (too perfect) and he was a local legend in my small town, as well as being the teacher for Salmon Biology (we had a fish hatchery at my high school!!).

  • So many teachers and professors that played a role in my learning and mentorship!

One specific call out โ–ถ๏ธ I was in a documentary filmmaking program in my last two years of high school โ€“ the three teachers in that program gave us a lot of responsibility and freedom and always provided us with valuable feedback. The way these teachers shaped the program allowed for so much growth and taught us professionalism, grit, and creativity โ€“ life skills that serve me every day!
