Team, we had a super intense collaboration session. A lot of good ideas soon filled up the Mural. Everyone in the session felt the need for an upvote option on sticky notes. (of course, you could add icons and what not but the ease of this option would have make it easy for facilitators to have an informal vote on ideas)

As a workaround you could use a voting session with a number of votes per person equal to or higher than the number of sticky notes to vote on. Would that help you?

  • Thank you, Manuel! I’m familiar with the voting feature. This was a feature the collaborators wished they had on Mural. In simple terms, it is something similar to a ‘like’ button on a social network platform.

Internally, we use icons to do this! But, having it on the sticky like social media is such an interesting idea. Excited to see what others think!

I like the idea of adding en emoji from a emoji "list" or a thumbs up to a sticky. I love the voting feature, but sometimes a simple and more "visual" way of showing support would be a nice addition.

I've just realized that this might be also helpful to solve another issue I sometimes encounter: Sometimes different people write the same topic on a sticky note, right?!

And then I usually like to combine them (i.e. remove duplicates and keep one) to make votings easier (otherwise votes would be split between two stickies with the same content e.g.), but this always feels not so nice towards the authors of the stickies. Because all of the "redundant" ones would be removed, but which one is going to stay? People might feel like their voice got lost and the sticky that's left does not represent that there have other people who thought so, too.

Therefore: If I was able to add an icon to a sticky that's like a number or a symbol for a "survivor of duplicates" it would underline its importance and help that no voice gets lost.

Is this understandable and do you think this would be helpful to you, too?

  • Add reactions directly on sticky notes without having to add an icon (thumb up - thumb down)

Allow people to react to a sticky note e.g. I have the same idea so I'll just add a thumbs up on it instead of a new sticky

Right now people add icons but they don't stay on top when moving around and you need to copy to add more to a sticky

A prototypical brainstorming path is usually idea generation -> idea clustering -> voting & prioritization. I'd love an option to 'like' or upvote a sticky note during idea generation, without the need to kick off a formal voting session, because in some sessions, like in a Retro, we would have multiple brainstorming moments and I don't want to run a voting session for each. It would save time in having to cluster sticky notes that are duplicates and give the facilitator a quick temp check on which ideas are shared.

Thanks for sharing! We hope to see additional feedback and votes on this Feature Idea. From there, we'll share with our product team and keep you updated.

  • This is really a required feature to understand notes that get more support from the collaborators and also to take those back and prioritize them.

This would also be an extremely useful feature for our team and would help with 40% of the mural boards we create and share
