💡Feature Idea: Key Shortcut to Momentarily Conspicuously Illuminate Grouping

This came from a problem we had recently. A small item was inadvertently disassociated from a set of similar icons and inadvertently grouped with some other object. we could not select it. Clicking on it did not disclose its grouping, at least not clearly.

This might be an anti-pattern, but it left me wishing I could press a key and see a marquis or some vivid demarcation disclosing the grouping. It would be great if it showed Z-Layers as well somehow. Specifically, this is needed for items that give no obvious response when directly clicked.

Obviously, for troubleshooting, there are many nuances that could accrue to this idea over time. With the "magic" key pressed, simple exposure of how items are grouped would be great for starters.

If this is already available, please advise. Thank you! Mike

Do I get this right that you would like to be able to press a key and instantly see then which objects are grouped together? If yes: I agree, that would be cool!

  • Correct. Obviously, there is a lot of room for variation in how it can "reveal" the bounding box or boxes. It could get incrementally for sophisticated troubleshooting, but a simple version would be the first step.
