💡Feature Idea: Import individual pages/slides from a PPT/Word/PDF document to a Mural page
It would be a really cool feature to be able to import a Powerpoint presentation, or a word doc or a pdf etc, and have Mural display each page or slide as an image on the Mural board.
This allows for all the formatting options in the MS Office suite to be used, but then to use Mural as the display tool.
Also a nice way to gather feedback on a presentation or a document collaboratively.

Hi, I've had a similar request here: https://community.mural.co/discussion/548/feature-idea-flip-through-pages-of-a-pdf-or-select-which-pages-to-add was about PDFs, but it would be great to enhance that to PPT, too.

I just make screenprints from my PPT and stack them in the right order in te mural.
If i want to go over them i just send the one visible to the back causing the next one to apear.
Works great.

Yes! I think I left a similar feature request about this too. Being able to spread out whichever PPT slides a teacher wants from a stack in the board is something that my colleagues require. It would be awesome if students could comment or do things around each one, or leave some "in the stack" while others are pulled out and shown. Being able to download a whole PPT into the board this way would be much faster than copy/ pasting each slide over, one by one.

I was looking for this feature to pull in a multiple page process map, expand out the pages side by side and then have it in the background while I prep notes and questions for discussion in a meeting. I can open the process in a new window, but I can't leave notes on top. And, when I try to paste in one page at a time, it is too blurry and I can't read the boxes well enough for the discussion.

Oh yeah, inserting a PDF and then being able to draw on top could be very helpful and nice :-)

To me, this is a critical feature. I am migrating back from Miro... and I lived on this feature. It's crazy to have to do so much busy work just to be able to do this. I use it like I used to do physical boards - to lay out presentations so that the team can see the whole thing, make notes, changes to order, etc really fast.

Hey! Some minor good news. You can already import some/all slides from PowerPoint into Mural with a minor, easy workaround. Inside PowerPoint, I just save the PowerPoint as an Image (.jpg, .gif, .png) - PowerPoint then creates a folder with each slide as an image, and you can drag them from the folder into Mural. You do lose animations/timings in your slides - the only real downpoint. I do it all the time for my classes and it works great (although with the small extra step).
What I DO need however, is the ability to take a word document or a .pdf of a text document and insert it into Mural not as an attachment/link but as they actual document pages. Use case: I have a policy document that I want to send out to a department to get their opinion on. I want to display the entire document in Mural and then have them put stickies on the document with their comments. If I try to import word or pdf now, I just get a link, not the contents of the document, if I copy and past from word directly, the formatting is really wonky - like bulleted lists - the number is in one text box and the content is in another, etc. (My workaround for this right now is also relatively easy - I just do Window Key + Shift + S to bring up the screen clipping tool and copy a screen clipping of the word doc into Mural. But if the document is long, this gets repetitive and it is difficult to get all the clippings to line up exactly.)

@Greg Wow, this is really helpful. Thanks for the hot tip! I just tried it and understand how it works now. While I still think it is important for Mural to import PPT in a way that the slides can be pulled out of the deck directly like you would really do with cards on a table in the future, this is an excellent way to bring in PPT right now. This will come in very handy. Much appreciated!

Hi all-
👉️ There's a helpful PTT Research study tomorrow for this particular Feature Idea. Could I nominate any of you to participate/fill a few spots for feedback?
