💡Feature Idea: Movable toolbar & menus and "auto-edge detection"?

I know this has been requested similarly in the discussions for a thread before. Was it by @Christina?

Would like to raise this, too, as it's sometimes annoying and I think we would like to have a better solution here.

1. What you want to be able to do in MURAL

Sometimes when you work in a mural (either design it or facilitate something or as a contributor), the menu / toolbar would appear somewhere close to the monitor's edge or even outside of the visible frame. And sometimes it's still visible, but "in my way" to edit or select something.

2. The problem you are trying to solve

Currently it sometimes happens that I cannot select something from the toolbar or an object below it because it gets displayed somewhere. I would like to be able to drag & move the toolbar around freely and I would welcome if MURAL would realize when the toolbar is going to be displayed outside of the "visible frame" in my browser and if then it would automatically move the toolbar to the visible space. And if I could move it around, I could easily move it away if MURAL chose its location - let's say - "not so wisely" ;-)

3. Why this helps everyone (or many people)

I think "everyone" would be happy if you would need to less zoom in and out to be able to work around this...

@manuel Being able to move things like the tool bar or zoom area "out of the way" would be great for all the reasons you mentioned. A related point discussed before that you might be thinking of too is to make the toolbar that appears when you click on something show all the options, every time. It is currently the case that when you want to choose a color for example, but are working anywhere on the bottom 50% of the screen, you can neither see nor choose from all the color options; some are cut off "under" the screen. So there is a lot of zooming and moving around to get at the one you want. I would love to be able to either see and select from all choices automatically from wherever I am on screen, or at least be able to drag the mini-toolbar up a bit so I can.

The lock feature is not like this: if you are near the right of the screen and click on Lock, it will automatically show your options (anyone or just facilitators can lock) to the left of that item-toolbar, so that you can always see and choose from all the options available.

Having that ease of use with all the options on the item-specific toolbar would be super.

Yes, @Christina . Thank you for the "explanation". That's exactly one of the things I remembered and wanted to underline, too. Not being able to see e.g. the color palette is quite frustrating at times.

Oh, haven't conciously noticed the difference behaviour for the lock feature yet. Thanks!
