💡Feature Idea: Prevent objects to be moved behind (nested) areas
1. What you want to be able to do in MURAL
I use nested areas quite often to create separate workspaces for every participant (and the surrounding area marks the space for a method as a whole e.g. crazy 8)
2. The problem you are trying to solve
Sometimes when e.g. people insert images to their working areas from the menu and their area, the images are moved to the background behind their area. They cannot remove them on their own then and I need to unlock the area sometimes to be able to select the objects. I've created another request a while ago about the easier selection of objects on the different layers, but here it would be sufficient, if MURAL's algorithms prevented objects to be moved behind (nested) areas. Maybe there is a better solution, but this is one I could think of. The objects would just be moved on the layer above the areas or areas would always be on their own layer in the background where no objects could be moved to or created on.
3. Why this helps everyone (or many people)
Less trouble for facilitators in sessions with lots of people at the same time ;-) And less trouble for participants :-)

Yes! The sudden disappearance of images behind another is a puzzling and chronic trouble spot. Even the Go to front/back does not always work; layering is a key function yet tricky, time consuming and baffling to participants at times ("Where did it go?!? It was just here!"). Attn. to this would be much appreciated👍.

Yes!!! This is a huge issue for us while facilitating, as we ask participants to add stickies and move them around and they often will get stuck behind the layers that we've built our templates with. It is extremely frustrating!

Thank you @Christina and @mero for your support on this sometimes confusing, stressing and at worst annoying issue!
@Christina: I absolutely agree on those quotes ("Where did it go?!? It was just here!")

Plus +1 to this request for a solution to this. Especially when working with new clients who we want to feel comfortable using Mural, this is very discouraging for them.

It's difficult for everyone to understand how and why a sticky has desappeared behind the area.
It's a real issue for our team and fixing it should be great 👍️

At https://community.mural.co/discussion/739/wonderful-wednesdays-make-your-background-truly-yours @Gino explains that if you put a framework in front of a background image it can keep things from disappearing behind it. Perhaps if we try adding it like a kind of glass over any objects we want to keep behind their stickies, etc. this will work too.

Thanks, @Christina . Will have a look at the tip!
